The Seven 9 Signs shop is now live!
This has been building for a while. Most of the work that leaves the studio is made for someone else. A building, a brand, a space that needs lettering to give it identity. That is still at the core of what we do.
But alongside that, there has always been work made under the Seven 9 Signs name. Not tied to a brief. Not answering to anyone else. Just pieces that felt right to make.
The shop is a place for that work to live.
Objet d’art Built Through Lettering
These pieces sit differently to commissioned work.
They are objet d’art built around typography. Words and surfaces brought together in a way that adds weight, presence and meaning to a space.
Jim Kerr has always been drawn to lettering and typography. The way it can guide, define or completely shift how something feels. That thinking runs through everything in the shop.
Some pieces land as a statement piece straight away. Others become a conversation piece over time. Some sit quietly but still hold the room.
They are not decorative for the sake of it. They are built with intent.
Traditional Signwriting and Gilding Techniques
Everything is made by hand in the Seven 9 Signs studio, using traditional signwriting and gold leaf gilding techniques. The same brushes, paints and gold leaf used across our day to day work.
No vinyl. No shortcuts. No mass production.

From Limited Batches to an Online Shop
Some of you will already know the bats.
They have been released in small runs over the last few years through Instagram. Each batch made in the studio and sent out one by one. Every time, they sold.
That response made it clear there was something worth building on.
When the new website went live earlier this year, it gave us the chance to do it properly. Not just one drop here and there, but a permanent online shop where these pieces can live and grow.
It has taken a few months to get everything in place. Building the shop, getting the details right and making enough work so it feels like a proper body of work.

Rooted in the Seven 9 Signs Story
Seven 9 Signs was founded in 2014, built on traditional signwriting and a love of painted letters that goes back years before that.
What started as an obsession with typography and hours of practice turned into a trade. One that has grown into work across the UK, from large scale murals to detailed gold leaf lettering.
Even now, that same feeling is there every time the brush hits the surface.
The shop is just another way of putting that work out into the world.

A mix of hand painted objet d’art, each one made in the Seven 9 Signs studio using traditional signwriting techniques.
